Thickness will very likely be over what is listed but it can vary from piece to piece. It will not be under the listed size.
It is recommended that you do not sand this material to a high grit and buff. The finer the finish the less you will see the pattern.
This Micarta was used by the US Navy and dated 1941-44. We do not know for sure the manufacturer of the material since there was no label indicating who made it.
Due to the age of the material there will be some surface scratches and imperfections. Some may also have small drill holes in them.
Each piece will be unique and will not look exactly like the photo. This micarta appears to have a single solid layer of canvas/linen on both the top and bottom but the middle of the material is rag micarta as shown in the pics.
The photos show what it looks like after having been run through the drum sander to remove the outer solid canvas layer. The piece you receive may or may not have been sanded down yet so you will have to sand off the outter layer to reviel the rag pattern beneath.
