About Us
Our History:
Maker Material Supply is a small family business located in the North Texas town of Granbury and owned by Amy and Aaron Forrest. MMS was established in late 2015 as a part time offshoot of Aaron's knife making hobby and has turned into a full-time pursuit for our family.
In 2015, we started MMS as an eBay shop to teach our kids about business, money and responsibility and as a way to sell off excess materials Aaron had collected while it was too hot to work in the garage in the Texas heat. Our 2 oldest kids (ages 9 and 7 at the time) invested $37 of their own funds from their piggy banks to buy a few materials to sell which helped get us up and running.
We spent the next few years working out of our home until it gradually over-ran the house, then in 2018 we purchased a small warehouse in Granbury, TX where we moved our family so we would have space to continue our growth. It was not until May of 2021, in the middle of the Covid pandemic, that Aaron was finally able to quit his regular day job after 6 years for working every night and weekend on MMS and finally made MMS his sole full time endeavor.
Again in 2023 we found ourselves running out of room in our warehouse and when a building next door became available, we took the opportunity to move our order fulfillment out of the warehouse and into the new building and also opened a retail storefront there as well. We've been truly blessed with a great team working with us all along the way that deserves the credit for making MMS what it has become today.
Our Philosophy:
We believe that there are 3 key components to producing fine handcrafted goods and those are the skill of the craftsman, quality tools and using only best materials. Our focus is on providing the highest quality materials for makers and manufacturers of heirloom quality products. As makers ourselves, we understand that finding and selecting unique, quality materials forms the foundation of every project.
As a small, family owned business, we are dedicated to providing 100% customer satisfaction to everyone we deal with. Our goal is to provide the best materials, the most unique selection and the best service you will ever encounter. We strive to do this by providing the highest quality materials, at great prices, with quick and affordable shipping options and most of all, truly caring about our customers. If ever there are any issues with an order or a product we will do whatever is necessary to make it right. We are extremely grateful and appreciative of each one of you and strive to treat each and every one as we would want to be treated during each interaction.
We are proud to serve a variety of talented makers and artisans ranging from woodworkers, knife makers, metal artists, jewelry makers, pen turners, luthiers and more. Many of the materials we carry are used for a wide range of items and we are continually working to offer them in sizes and configurations that are suitable for a variety of makers.
Some of the materials we supply include a variety of composites such as carbon fiber, G10 and Micarta/phenolics, resins and glow materials, exotic stabilized and natural woods, mammoth ivory and fossils, metals, blade steel, fasteners and more.
