ZEITLER 77 Austrian Military Blade Blank- Made by Eickhorn-Solingen Germany- 1 blank- ES1

Model- Zeitler 77 (Austrian Military Field Knife)

Manufacturer- Eickhorn Solingen, Germany

Price is for 1 blade blank.

Dimensions:

Blade length- 6.5"'

Blade Width- .86"

Blade Thickness- 3/16"

Tang Length- 2.5"

Tang hole diameter- .196" (5mm)

Steel Type-  55Si7

Condition- These blades are ground, heat treated, stamped with model name, have the guard welded on, and have a black coating on them(parkerized?).  The blades do need to be sharpened.  Overall they are in good condition, however, they have been shipped halfway around the world and stored away since the late '70s in crates so there is some wear/scratches from the blades rubbing against each other in the crates and there are also some minor corrosion/rust spots on some of them.

History- Zeitler was an Austrian knife company who contracted with Eickhorn to produce these blades.  The Zeitler 77 model was made as a trial for the Austrian military in the late '70's.  However, the Austrian military ended up choosing another model manufactured by Glock(Feldmesser 78) as their standard issue field knife and the Zeitler 77 model was not produced commercially for the military.  These appear to be fairly rare as they appear to have only been produced for the trials based on the information that we have been able to gather.

Custom Antler Handle Zeitler 77 Knife

Good quality, blade sharpened well and kept its edge, if your going to polish the blade off like i did it will take quite a bit of work to get the black coating off, its pretty tough. just the right size for the decorative knifes i made. hefty enough blades to last a long time being used. i would like to see the price drop to about 20.00$ a pop and i would buy more, but all in all great quality.

Nice blade

These appear to be very nice blades, in great condition, with a nice, durable finish on them, they are unedged, but that's not an issue for most I imagine, if you can put a handle on you odds ate high you can also put an edge on a blade. I can't really give a better endorsement than saying that if I'm able to I'll be purchasing a few more.

Excellent product. As promised.

Great stuff. Looking forward to using. Not Maker Materials fault, but Canadians be aware of Customs pillage charges through UPS.
