What was a Giant Deer?
The Giant Deer, also known as the Irish Elk, is an extinct species of deer that roamed the earth beginning 400,000 years ago. They originated in Ireland and spread throughout Europe and Asia. They were similar in body size to an Alaskan moose standing 7' at the shoulder and weighing up to 1,500 lbs. Their antlers weighed up to 100 lbs alone with a tip to tip spread of up to 12 feet which is twice as large as the largest Alaskan Moose.
